Our Studios

  • Spark (PK-1st) Studio

We believe even the youngest children have vital work to do, even if the work is imaginary play or working together with wood scraps, ladders, and old tires to build a castle, game, race track, etc.

Our Spark Studio is where potty-trained learners - aged 4 - 6 years - find joy in Montessori-based tools to spark letter recognition, number recognition, and simple mathematics and have fun reading. Learners will embrace joyful work and play to develop independence, focus, and kindness. Learning occurs half outdoors and half in the classroom, regardless of weather.

  • Discovery (Elementary) Studio

The Discovery Studio is where learners aged 7 - 12 years - choose important work in core skills, quests, and projects as a way to engage with great energy. Children will flourish as they discover passions.

The Discovery Studio is designed to create flexible spaces to learn and engage one another. It is a tight-knit community of mixed-age children who support each other and collaborate daily. This environment fosters a culture of respect and excellence. Heroes practice accountability and conflict resolution, motivation, and support one another to accomplish learning goals. Gamification is embedded into core skills, quests, and projects.

  • Exploration (Middle School) Studio

Preparation and mindset are the keys to our Exploration studio for learners ages 11 - 14 years. Exploration Studio is a transformative experience as children navigate between childhood and adolescence. Students strengthen their leadership and accountability at a deeper level through apprenticeships, Socratic discussions, and increasingly independent in-depth projects. Quests involve deep engagement with the broader community, both locally and globally, as students explore potential vocations through the start of apprenticeships. Socratic discussions will become increasingly more difficult as children ponder situations related to ethics and moral dilemmas.

  • Launchpad (High School) Studio

The goal of Launchpad (LP) is for each graduate to discover the Next Great Adventure — a superpower skill, industry, and place to live and work — where he or she will find a calling that will change the world. By Launchpad (age 14+), heroes have developed the skills, drive, and character to change the world and set off on their Next Great Adventure.

Learn To Do

Children are given the raw materials to invoke reverie, magic, time, and curiosity that will lead them take on new challenges, conquer them, and grow. This portion of our studio is based on Maria Montessori’s Method which says:

  1. Play is work.

  2. A guides job is prepare the environment for optimal play.

  3. Provide independence.

  4. Give opportunities to explore with hands-on learning.

  5. Observe children and present another level of skill development for tasks they are interested in.

  6. Freedom to choose from options.

  7. Respect.

Learn To Be

Children will take accountability for themselves, their studio, their tools, and take-care of their tribe. Children will discover and become generous with their gifts as they explore the wonders of the world.

This portion of our program is based on Forest School Method, which says:

  1. Freedom increases self-confidence, independence, and self-belief.

  2. Awareness and social skills are improved through sharing and cooperation.

  3. More sophisticated written and spoken language helps focus and concentration - which in turn encourages a positive attitude toward learning.

  4. Experiences that foster physical stamina and coordination lead to a respect for the environment and others.

  5. Nature offers long-term gains in attitude, self-perception, interpersonal skills, and mastery.

Learn To Learn

“Children will delight in threads and pieces of string, tying and untying knots, gluing and ungluing, investigating, experimenting, acting, disguising, masking, dressing up, transforming, tending seeds, drawing, wriggling, catching things thrown at them, and dreaming of flying - All images of a thinking mind.”

Jay Griffith A Country Called Childhood

This portion of our program is based on Reggio Emilia Method, which says:

  1. Give opportunities for in-depth projects of the children’s interest.

  2. Allow children to select their own presentation style of their learning.

  3. Collaborate for selection of projects.
